How to Set Up a Sony Bravia for TEOS

This guide explains how to set up a Sony Bravia for TEOS. This includes topics such as settings and app installation to make the device ready to connect to TEOS.

Requirements

• A Sony Bravia device and its corresponding remote.
• A USB drive or a network connection to the device.

How to set up a Sony Bravia for TEOS

When starting the Sony Bravia for the first time, an initial setup will begin. Proceed with this as normal.

Pro settings mode

1. Navigate to “Apps” and select the app “Pro settings”, then switch to “Pro settings mode”.

2. After doing so, the device will briefly load and then display:

Enable ADB

ADB is required on the end device for stable use of TEOS.

Installing the TEOS application

Installing the TEOS application can be done in two ways:
• Using enabled ADB (installation over the network)
• Using a USB stick with the application

Installing with a USB stick

1. Insert a USB stick into your workstation and place the desired applications in the root directory of the USB stick.

2. Insert the USB stick into the Sony Bravia, navigate to “Pro settings”, and select “Install APK.”


3. The placed APK file should appear; select it to install the application.


You have now successfully installed an application on the Sony Bravia.

Settings

There are changes to be made in the default and pro settings of the device to ensure optimal performance.

Default settings

Open the settings in the top right corner.

Network and Internet

1. Navigate to “Local network setup.”


2. Select IP control and enable “Simple IP control.”

3. Select “Authentication” and set it to “None.”

Apps

1. Select “Special app access” and open “Energy optimisation.” Disable energy optimisation for the TEOS application.


2. Navigate back and go to “Display over other apps.” Enable this for the TEOS application.


3. On Android 12, there is also a permission called “Turn screen on.” Enable this for the TEOS application.


System

1. Open “Date and time” and make sure that the correct time is set.

Pro settings

Open the Pro settings.

Actions

1. To enable Web UI, open “Start-up services” and install “BRAVIA Web Control UI.”

Follow the steps in the installation process. The device will restart.

Settings

1. Set “AC power on” to “Always on.”


2. Open “Developer options” and enable “Power state control by apps.”


3. To use “Sony Web UI,” an admin password needs to be set. Select “Admin password” and enter “sony1234” or any other desired password.


Function restrictions

1. Select “Apps.”

Here, you can enable or disable certain apps to be available when in “Pro mode.” Enable the TEOS application.


The Sony Bravia device is now configured correctly and ready for use with TEOS.
